tiny landscapes.

I don't own any plants.  I wish I did, but I tend to kill green things.  I adopt a plant, give it a name, try to love it, and then I kill it.  It's a very demoralizing process.

Recently though, in a moment of inspiration [denial?], I was researching homemade moss terrariums when I stumbled across the work of sculptor and landscape artist Paula Hayes.  Just look at these exquisite miniature landscapes...

Anyone who buys one of her terrariums must sign an agreement promising to maintain the living artwork.  I love that Ms. Hayes is so invested in the potential perpetuality of her work, and that she insists on establishing a relationship between the work and its future owner... even if that commitment seems daunting for plant-killers like myself.

In addition to her terrariums, I also fell in love with Ms. Hayes' large-scale landscapes and her innovative planters...

PS:  you might take a look at her living necklaces too.
